The association targets vulnerable migrant populations of different faiths and legal statuses originating mainly from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It places particular emphasis on supporting women and sexual minorities.
We target an audience that is not necessarily equipped to adapt in secular societies. Indeed, some of these people come from countries at war where democracy is non-existent, others from countries where human rights are being implemented but are still struggling to be integrated into daily practices. Furthermore, the international context which has prevailed since September 11, 2001 has fueled prejudices against people of the Muslim faith, who are in fact often discriminated against.
The question of gender is at the center of our work. Many people come from countries where women do not enjoy rights and still undergo traditionalist upbringing, and where sexual minorities are oppressed. This sometimes makes it difficult or even blocks their integration into secular countries.
